Books to screen - romance
I wasn’t much of a reader when I was younger. I could never find books that kept my interest. I’d get halfway through them and just…stop. However I stumbled on books at the most unexpected time. When I had babies! I think it was the ability to read a page, put the book down, care for the kids, and then pick up right where I left off. I could read a page or 3 chapters depending on how much time I had.
Not surprising but my genre, like most of us ladies these days, is a good romance. I love an adorable “meet cute” and the build up to when they fall in love, break up and then fall in love again. Plus there is usually just a handful of characters, the plots are simple, so I can read casually with minimal effort to connect all the dots between characters. But what I honestly have come to love the most, is casting the characters in my head as I read along.
Due to this, I love watching books come to life on the big screen. I love seeing who the professionals pick to play the leads. Do they follow the book, do they bring to life the chemistry, does the character match who I envisioned?
Some do AMAZING jobs while others, I’ll leave it up to you to decide. Below are some of my favorite romance books that are on the screen or soon to be in the year ahead (2026). Enjoy!

I haven’t read many books twice, but this is one of them. Such a cute enemies to lovers. The movie is great and currently on Netflix!
Another one that I ended up reading twice. The movie strayed from the book a bit. Not in a bad way, but felt more like a comedy versus the drama I felt while reading the book. You can see this movie on Amazon Prime.
So excited to see this one on the big screen! Emily Henry has a ton of rom-coms and I hope this is just the beginning for her with Books to Screen. Release date is scheduled for January 9, 2026 on Netflix.
Ali Hazelwood is probably one of my favorite authors right now. This was the first one I read that got me hooked. This one is still in production and no release date yet. Once I have it I will update it here.
This is a series about a college hockey team. It has 4 books total. Each one was great. It is being turned into a Netflix series and is currently in production. I will update you here when I hear a release date. So excited about this one. You can follow production on Instagram.
